Welcome to the website of St John the Baptist, Capel. We are part of the Weald Team of parishes close to the southerly Surrey border with West Sussex. The other parishes in the team are St Peter’s, Newdigate, and St Margaret’s, South Holmwood.

What we do

We try to cater for all in the Anglican communion. We have a variety of services and are involved in all that goes on in the village

Churchyard

We have just received a Faculty from the Chancellor of the Diocese that grants us permission to move the existing stones to the east of the Church and to use the area for burial. The current space at the back of the church is managed by the parish council but is almost full. We are pleased to announce that after almost a years endeavour we have received that permission and burials will happen in the churchyard again in the near future. There is still a lot that has to be sorted out, but we now know for sure that it is going to happen and will give burial space for those who live in the parish for decades to come.

We are a small friendly village church at the centre of the community. It was at one time predominantly rural, but now is home to commuters in the home counties and London.
